Lost Necklace

April 1st, 2004

“My girlfriend lost her necklace that I bought her on her birthday and spent $100 on it.

What should I do and how should I handle the situation?”

Liam’s Answer

I am tempted to say you should strangle her for being so careless. But o f course, having lost the necklace, you have nothing to strangle her with.

The truth is, poo occurs. Don’t get angry with her. And whatever you do, don’t go out and buy her another $100 necklace to strangle her with.

Things go missing every day. Like, for example, on Monday, her stereo might go missing. On Tuesday, her curling iron. Wednesday, her earrings. After a week, she’ll know that you totally understand how things go missing.

And the pawn broker will have given you the $100 you paid for the necklace.

After that, you can call it quits, and live happily ever after.
