True Love Just Wants To Be ‘Friends’

January 1st, 2000

“I asked out this girl, she can’t date (parents), we went to the movies still and she said stuff that implied she liked me.

Then I asked her to do something else with me, and she went into this whole long spiel about how she likes me more than a friend but doesn’t want to get involved.

What does this mean?”

Jo’s Advice

OK, so what did you ask her to do? Was it to go to another movie, in which case not getting involved clearly means she doesn’t want to be

your girlfriend.

Was it to rob a bank, in which case she means “I don’t want to go to jail for your hairbrained ideas”.

Was it to go down on you, in which case not getting involved means “I like you but I don’t want to be physically near you, you make me slightly nauteous.”

Whatever the request, she doesn’t want to get involved, meaning you’ve gone as far as you’re going to go with this chick.

Cut her loose and find someone else – someone who is willing, just for you, to rob a bank on the way to a movie where she’ll go down on you.

That’s true love.
