Laugh At My Own Jokes

February 3rd, 2002

“I start laughing at my own joke before I get it out. How can I keep a straight face?”

Robert Hird

Liam’s Advice

I have a trick when I start laughing while I’m telling a joke. I pause for a moment, and bite really hard on my cheeks. The pain stops me from laughing, and the process of biting on my cheeks stops me from smiling

Remember to avoid spraying blood on your audience when you’ve finally got yourself under control.

Chris’ Answer

I avoid this problem entirely by only telling other people’s jokes.
