Free Lunch Anyone?

“Is any thing in this country really free? Who pays?”

Ahren McDonnely

Chris’ Answer

I don’t understand why some people say “There’s no such thing as free lunch”. It’s simply not true.

If you want a free lunch, just do what I do. go into a busy restaurant, eat up big, go to the bathroom, and climb out the window.

Liam’s Answer

We are being asked to pay for stuff that was previously free more and more. For example, it used to be that water was free. Now, you have to pay the water company for it. Clean air was once taken as a given, now people bottle it and sell it in bars in San Francisco.

Interestingly, economic value is ascribed to things which are scarce.

300 years ago, all air was clean, and no one would think of bottling it. Now, pollution by industry makes clean air hard to find, and those same corporations that pollute can turn around and make money selling us air in bottles.

According to government’s, that’s called economic growth.

According to me, calling it growth is the ultimate in mental retardation.
